• In a remarkable display of commitment to the future, Oyo Governor’s ally, Balogun Seye Famojuro has been lauded for his efforts in nurturing young talent and fostering leadership among the youth in Oyo State.

    In a media chat from early Wednesday, the GSMist-USA Coordinator, Hon. Segun Folorunso Akande had the Oyo Governor’s ally commended- recognizing his outstanding commitment to building and supporting young people for leadership opportunities in Oyo State.

    The commendation came as a reaction to the visible efforts of Balogun Seye Famojuro in the empowerment of the next generation of leaders- and in recognition of the multiple opportunities which young people have had through his platform in the state.

    The appraisal by Folorunso Akande highlights the significant achievements of Balogun Bobajiroro in bolstering youth participation in politics and leadership.

    “Through the examples of his life, Balogun Seye Famojuro has paved the way for a new generation of leaders to emerge and thrive in the body polity of the State…. His good graces and visionary leadership has led several young men and women to take on pivotal roles in governance…. He’s one man who has been very consequential in building and mentoring young leaders- and in mobilizing them for different opportunities in political leadership…. From the first phase to the second phase of the Omituntun administration in Oyo State- we’ve seen him demonstrated profound dedication to nurturing talents and fostering a culture of leadership among the youth”, Folorunso remarked.

    In expressing gratitude for his impactful contributions in youth development, Segun Folorunso emphasized on how important it is for other people in power to take a cue from Seye Famojuro’s style of public life- by investing in young leaders and providing them with the guidance and opportunities needed for them to succeed.

    “Truthfully, Balogun Seye Famojuro’s unwavering commitment to empowering our youth is exemplary, and this serves as a beacon of hope for our polity and our democracy….. Trust me, if only other people in power could take a cue from his style of public life, I think our nation will be the better for it”, he remarked.

    Hon. Folorunso Akande concluded by reaffirming his support for those who promote leadership development among young people, and encouraged others to follow Balogun Seye Famojuro’s example of dedication and service to the youth community.

    On the international widows’ day 2024, the chairperson of Lagelu, Mrs. Taiwo Mudashiru led indigent Lagelu widows to Oyo first lady’s office- in order for them to partake in the state government’s support program for widows across the state.

    The chairperson lauded Oyo first lady, Engr. Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde for the generous act of compassion shown to indigent needy widows in Lagelu, and elsewhere around the state.

    While congratulating all beneficiaries of the support program from Lagelu, the chairperson expressed her gratitude to the Oyo State government on what she termed a timely palliative intervention for the poor and needy widows from everywhere in Oyo State

    It was a day in which participants and indeed, the entire community, sons and daughters from far and near, political leaders from across spectrum, and indeed religious clerics, put extant social realities of intense hardship assaulting the nation aside, as much as they could, and turned on their most optimistic vibes for a better tomorrow— as they welcome their illustrious son on his attainment of Lagelu local government council chair. The event was simply enthralling in its grandeur!

    With the event practically offering perspectives on the importance of political cohesion, and on how political leaders, no matter what party they belong, will find common grounds to work together in the good interest of their people— Rep Lafisoye Akinmoyede maintained he has never been optimistic of an era where the local government chairman, the state assembly member and the national assembly member will at any time in history find a common ground in put partisan affiliations behind them, to be on same page in Lagelu local government… Also lending his voice to what now seem like a new era in Lagelu politics, the Oyo Assembly member, and House Committee Chair on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Akintunde Emmanuel remarked the ongoing period in Lagelu as being “a defining moment for all”.

    On his part, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu local government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen said he hopes that in his own period of Chairmanship- Lagelu politics can begin anew- away from the old ways of division, bitter animosity, retribution and enmity.

  • Executive Chairman of Lagelu local government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, on Sunday joined Muslim faithfuls in Lagun, his hometown in Lagelu north to observe the Eid-el kabir prayer.

    The council chairman, according to news report, was received by religious leaders, traditional rulers, elderly men and women, youth, and other illustrious sons and daughters of the hometown.

    After observing the Eid prayer, the chairman with his large entourage made scheduled stops at Onilagun’s palace; Elejioku’s palace; and at Onilalupon’s palace- to celebrate and share in the joy of the festive season with the three royal fathers.

  • The Executive Chairman of Lagelu local government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen has congratulated Nigerians on what he termed 25 unbroken years of democratic journey.

    In a statement release by his office in commemoration of the Nigerian democracy day, the council chairman maintained that a 25 years of journey in democratic government, though limited in scope— is an accomplishment of sort.

    The statement partly reads;

    It’s June 12: Democracy Day! We may not yet be where we had envisaged when we set out on this path in 1999; but warts and all, we have managed to sustain this democracy project for 25 unbroken years! That’s no mean achievement!! Democracy is a process, anyway, not a destination.

    If we manage to call up the requisite courage for reinventing Nigeria – in the direction of federalism, consistent with its plural orientation- our country may begin to attain to the full measure of democracy, with its promises of stability, development, and happiness for all our people, without regard to ‘tribe and tongue.’

    Happy Democracy Day, he remarked.

  • The Executive Chairman of Lagelu local government, Mr. Mudashiru Kamorudeen on Sunday felicitate with Oyo state’s first lady, Her Excellency, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde on 52nd birthday anniversary.

    In a new release by his office on Sunday, the council chairman extolled Engr. Tamunominini Makinde for all the good work she has done for the state- describing her the best first lady Oyo’s ever heard in terms of public impact.

    “From standing tall for women’s rights— to strengthening communities to support women dignity and child’s care- the Oyo First Lady, our mother- Engr. Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde has committed herself to ensuring that this administration does everything it can to support and protect our women and children”, the chairman remarked.

    The chairman equally congratulate chair of Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency, Hon. Adetokunbo Adeaga on his birthday anniversary.

    In felicitation, the council boss described chair of OYCSDA as “an extraordinary man with proven contributions to social and community impacts”.

  • The Executive Chairman of Lagelu local government, Mr. Mudashiru Kamorudeen has met with president of Lagelu Indigenes’ Club, Mr. Oguntola Gabriel Olusola- a former Permanent Secretary, and affiliate of CCII on a proposed development planning and research committee for the local government area.

    The meeting as reported- centered around robust engagement for the designing of best practice and strategies to foster development and enhance democratic governance in the local government area.

    In the meeting which lasted about half an hour at the council secretariat in Iyana-Offa, the chairman briefed on his plans to assemble a well appointed development planning committee by bringing together the best caliber of people who mean well to work on the sundry issues of relevance to local development.

    Sharing his plans in the robust engagement, the council boss said he’s envisioned the proposed development planning committee to help shape the direction of public engagement, especially on social and community development in Lagelu— as he made known that he’s ready to give anything to continue to have opportunity to help deepen the developmental outlook of the local government area.

    On his part, the president- Lagelu Indigenes Club, Mr. Oguntola Gabriel Olusola, a former permanent secretary who has at different times held a variety of leadership roles in the Nigerian public space— commended the executive chairman of Lagelu for his bold vision and plans for the local government area— assuring him of his total cooperation with the new administration.

  • Following an issued memo from Oyo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu local government, Mr. Mudashiru Kamorudeen has dispatched his vice, Olayinka Sadiq to Lagelu North local council development area.

    The dispatching of the council vice chairman was said to be in line with an enabling circular directive by the Oyo Ministry of Local Government Affairs- mandating all council vice chairmen to head local council development areas that were headed by their predecessors in the immediate past administration— as a retention for status quo.

    With the official assignment letter issued, the vice chairman of Lagelu local government is to assume office as overseer of Lagelu North local council development area— reports from the chairman’s office said.

  • The Executive Chairman of Lagelu local government, Mr. Mudashiru Kamorudeen has launched a cooperative credit bank in partnership with Itesiwaju Cooperative Society- for affordable finance and credit facilities to small businesses and startups.

    The program, according to report from the Chairman’s office- was said to be a major platform to foster and democratize accessibility to financial services and support for new startups and small businesses in the local government.

    Speaking at the program launch on Tuesday, the council chairman said the cooperative credit bank was envisioned to drive local economic growth and social upliftment.

    His statement in brief;

    “It is evident, given the centrality of small businesses to the local economy, that a more clement and supportive operational environment has to be afforded them, as a starting point to revamping MSMEs in the grassroot…. Our plan therefore- is to make Lagelu local government supportive of startups and small businesses through the usage of creative support programs, and affordable financial services.

    The program was described as a welcome development by a good number of participants from across the local government area.

  • The traditional rulers in Lagelu local government on Tuesday expressed their support for the Executive Chairman of the local government.

    In a courtesy visit to the council chairman in the early hours of Tuesday— the monarchs pledged their support to aid the new administration in fostering local development and peace.

    In their remarks at the event, the traditional rulers congratulated Mr. Mudashiru Kamorudeen on his assumption to office— while expressing their confidence in his capabilities to deliver good governance in the grassroot.

    The chairman on his part thanked the traditional rulers- for the confidence placed in his administration in expectance of a better delivery of result in governance. Further in his address, he reiterated on his commitment to prioritizing close engagement with traditional leaders in the local government- all through the period of his administration.
