The Lagelu Local Government Secretariat in Iyana-Offa was on Thursday filled with joy and reverence as the community came together for the first-ever Thanksgiving and Christmas Carol Service. This historic event, organized under the leadership of Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, was an occasion of gratitude, reflection, and unity for the people of Lagelu and its community.

The service, which marked a new chapter in the local government’s commitment to faith and community cohesion, was graced by an array of dignitaries from within Lagelu and across Oyo State. Among the notable figures in attendance were Elder Babatunde Tijani, Elder Oribayo Okeyode, Hon. Akintunde Emmanuel, Former CCII President- Dr Yemi Soladoye, President Lagelu Indigenous Club- Dr Oguntola, Oyo PDP Women Leader- Alhaji Wulemot Ibitoye, Hon. Tokunbo Adeaga, Chief. Benedict Akika, Hon. Abiodun Tiamy, Hon. Ramata Agberemi Dabo, Lagelu Grand Imam- Sheikh Otegbeye, and numerous party leaders, community leaders and executives.

In his remarks, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen expressed his deep sense of gratitude, not only for the landmark achievements Lagelu has achieved under his administration, but for the resilience and spirit of unity that have defined the community. “Today, we come together as one people, bound by our shared faith and our common destiny,” he said. “This Thanksgiving and Carol Service is more than a celebration of the season. It’s a celebration of our progress, our strength, and the values that will carry us forward together.”

The program featured a variety of soul-lifting hymnals, carols, and prayers led by choirs from local churches, with residents participating in praise and worship. The spirit of unity was palpable as leaders, families, and friends joined voices to celebrate the season, underscoring the shared sense of resilience and collective hope that has brought the community this far.

In addition to the carols, prayers were offered for peace, development, and continued prosperity for the local government area, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large. The event served as a reminder of the strong sense of togetherness within the community, with attendees expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate and give thanks in a shared space of faith and fellowship.

The Thanksgiving and Christmas Carol Service ended on a high note, with Hon. Kamorudeen extending his appreciation to all the attendees and expressing his commitment to fostering a harmonious and progressive future for Lagelu. The council chairman also took the opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
